  Physics Tip

potential energy
Potential energy is the energy possessed by an object because of its height above the ground. The amount of potential energy possessed by an object depends on its mass and its height. A roller coaster car is initially hauled by a motor and chain system to the top of a tall hill, giving it a large quantity of potential energy.

  Physics Quote

It is not uncommon for engineers to accept the reality of phenomena that
are not yet understood, as it is very common for physicists to disbelieve
the reality of phenomena that seem to contradict contemporary beliefs of
physics - H. Bauer

Online Telescopes: Your Options

There are many people who have found that online telescopes have a lot to offer. Not only are individuals using these in order to get a closer look at the universe, but teachers have also found that they are perfect tools to use in the classroom. Regardless of why you are using an online telescope, one thing will never change. This is a great way to view stars and planets without having to buy your own telescope, and worry about finding them on your own. Instead, you can simply make your request to an observatory that offers online telescopes, and let them take things from there.

There are a couple of ways that you can make a request. First off, you will obviously need to locate a participating observatory. But once you do that, check out the following two options.

If you know a lot about astronomy, you may want to make your request based on coordinates. Coordinates will tell the observatory what you want to see. For those who are not familiar with this, ask the observatory if they know where you can get a listing of coordinates for stars, planets, etc.

Another way to make your request is to simply ask the observatory to record something in particular. For instance, if you are teaching your class about a particular planet, you could request that the observatory records it. This way you do not have to worry about coordinates, or anything that is too complicated.

If you are interested in astronomy and want to learn more about the universe, find an observatory that offers online telescopes. They have quite a bit to offer, and can save you from having to buy your own telescope. Of course, you can also be rest assured that they will always find what you are most interested in.

As you can imagine, online telescopes are going to change the way that astronomers look at the universe.

Cosmology Basics

While there may not be anything “basic” when it comes to cosmology, in order to understand this subject you need to know what it is all about. Most people have heard the term cosmology, but when it comes down to it they have no idea what it is all about. Unless you have taken a class on cosmology or have studied it on your own, there is a good chance that you are not totally sure of what it entails. Luckily, the definition of cosmology can be broken down into a basic form to make it more easily understandable.

So what is cosmology? Generally speaking, it is the study of the Universe as well as how humans fit into it. Even though the term “cosmology” has only been used since the 1700’s, people have been studying the Universe for much longer. Cosmology has a rich history, and is centered around different viewpoints and perspectives.

If cosmology is starting to sound more and more interesting, there is a good chance that you will want to learn a bit more about this subject. But how are you going to do this? After all, cosmology is not something that you simply dive into hoping that you can solve all of the world’s questions.

The best way to learn about cosmology is to take a college level course. These courses are taught by instructors who know what they are talking about, and in turn, you will be able to get a much better feel for what you are up against. Of course, there is also information online and in print discussing the many sides of cosmology.

Overall, you may be able to learn the basics of cosmology on your own. But as an amateur, if you really want to get involved with this subject you need to get in touch with experienced individuals who will be able to guide you in the right direction.
