A New Tantalizing Algebra for Circulants

This is a fundamental discovery on the existence of circulants. Circulants are Matrices, which have a sequence of arrangements of the elements.

Consider the circulant:

    a       b       c        d            1    0    0    0                 0    1    0   0

    d       a       b        c     =  a  0    1    0    0      +     b  0    0    1    0

    c       d       a        b            0    0    1    0                 0    0    0   1

    b       c       d        a            0    0    0    1                 1    0   0    0

This Is aI + bS + cS² + dS³ = C – a polynomial in S with :

Circulants commute since S commutes with powers and a,b,c,d are numbers, which commute. S can be called “Shift Matrix”, since it shifts row upwards, first row becoming last!
